Outlook en Exchange server; meerdere afzender adressen

Hoewel de onderstaande tip ook voor anderen heel handig kan zijn, is deze vooral bedoeld als geheugensteuntje voor mezelf :)

Question: How do I setup Virtual Accounts in Outlook 2003

Procedure:

With Outlook 2003 opened:

  • In Menu item ->Tools select ->E-mail Accounts
    (which will open the “E-Mail Accounts” window)
  • With “Add a new e-mail account” selected
    Click on the “Next >” button
    (which will open the “Server Type” window)
  • With “POP3” selected
    Click on the “Next >” button
    (which will open the “Internet E-Mail Settings (POP3)” window)
  • You need to fill the fields:User Information

    Your Name: [your name]
    E-mail Address: [reply address] this will be the from address

    Server Information

    Incoming mail server (POP3): POP3
    (you need to put something but it will not be used)
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): SMTP.4smartphone.net

    Logon Information

    User Name: user (you need to put something but it will not be used)
    Password: user (you need to put something but it will not be used)

    Note: Don’t press on [Test Account Setting…]
    It will Fail!

  • Click on the “More Settings …” button
    (which will open the “Internet E-Mail Settings” window)
  • While on the “General” Tab
    Change the Mail Account field to something more relevant than POP3
    This will be used to select your identity to send email.
    The reply address is a good choice.
  • Click on the “Outgoing Server” Tab
    Check the “[X] My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
    Select the “Log on using” radio button
    User name: [your exchange email address]
    Password: [your 4smartphone password]
  • Click on the “Advanced” Tab
    Change the “Outgoing server (SMTP):” to 2525 (default value is 25)
  • Click on the “OK” button
    (which will close the “Internet E-Mail Settings” window)
    Click on the “Next >” button
    (which will close the “E-mail Accounts” window)
    Click on the “Finish” button
    (which will close the wizard windows)
  • In Menu item ->Tools select ->Options
    (which will open the “Options” window)
  • Click on the “Mail Setup” Tab
    Click on the “Send/Receive…” button
    (which will open the “Send/Receive Groups” window)
  • While “All Accounts” is selected
    Click on the “Edit…” button
    (which will open the “Send/Receive Settings – All Accounts” window)
  • On the left side locate and select the POP3 account you just created
    It will the name you selected in step 6.
  • In the Account Options section,
    Uncheck the [ ]Receive mail items
  • Click on the “OK” button
    (which will close the “Send/Receive Settings – All Accounts” window)
    Click on the “Close” button
    (which will close the “Send/Receive Groups” window)
    Click on the “OK” button
    (which will close the “Options” windows)
  • You are now ready to use your virtual Account to send emails using another FROM: (i.e. reply) address

    Now, when you click on New Mail Message (Ctrl+N) you will notice the pull down called “Accounts”. By clicking on it you can decide which account will be used to send your e-mail. You will also notice a grey box message at the top of your email that tells you which account will be used to send your message. By default, the Microsoft Exchange Server account will be used.
